  • I’m not sure about my level of English, how can I find out?
Most people have a good idea of their level of English but we are always on hand if you need help, just contact us.  Every student is assessed on arrival to make sure that they are placed in the right level.
  • How many course levels do you have?
We offer 6 course levels from Beginner to Advanced on all programmes except the English for Specific Purposes Programme which requires an Intermediate level of English.
  • If I discover that the level I have been placed is not right for me, what can I do?
If you feel that you can’t keep up in your class or that maybe the class is too easy for you, first of all speak to your teacher about your concerns.  If your teacher is in agreement, he/she can advise you on what level would suit you better.  We have an ‘open door’ policy at HSI English Language School so always feel free to talk to your teachers or the Director of Studies about anything you’re not sure about.

  • How many students will be in my class?
The average number of students in a class at HSI English Language School will be between 8 and 12 with never more than 15.
  • What time do the programmes start?
Our morning programme starts at 09.30 and finishes at 13.00. The afternoon programme starts at 13.30 and finishes at 15.00.  If you are availing of private tuition, these classes will not finish any later than 17.00.
  • How can I register for an English course?
Registration is very simple: just fill in the application form (you can get this at the school or by downloading it from our website) and return it to the school.
  • How can I pay for the course?
We have a range of payment options.  Those booking on a tuition only programme can pay either by credit card, cash, cheque or bank draft at the school seven days before the course starts.  In order to secure a place on one of our accommodation package programmes we require a completed application form plus a deposit of one week's fees.  The balance of the fees must be paid seven days before your course starts.  Fees can be lodged into the HSI English Language School "SWIFT" Account.  This account can be accessed through any international bank worldwide.

  • Will I get a certificate at the end of my course?
Yes, all students receive an end of course certificate stating the number of hours they attended and the level of English achieved.
  • Who else will be studying there? Will I have the opportunity to meet Irish students?
